Today we dressed up

One of the best things about having a girl is playing dress up; cute pig tails, fancy bows, and beautiful dresses littering the closet floor. My little girl is not so much of a princess as she is a crazy energy ball, but some days she puts on a pretty skirt and the princess fantasy takes over.

She fought me taking it off, so she is currently napping in it. I'm secretly giddy. Mama loves her a little princess!

Toys now litter our newly finished basement, since there is no couch and no TV down there. Do you notice the empty shelves? All the toys are on the floor, and that's how she likes it, baby.

Our morning dress up continued into "being mommy" and Aryn does a fantastic rendition of her mom. And after she was done, my computer was all messed up, with the screen upside down and programs open that I didn't know existed. I'm also fairly certain she added Cookie Monster's "Call Me Maybe" to my favourites. I'll take that as a hint.

Our house has become a loud boom box with a little voice repeating "No! No! No!" (which sounds like, "Nein! Nein! Nein!"), "Mommy! Mommy!", "Where's Daddy?" and, her favourite, "PUUUUPPPYYYY!" It's always "puuuuppyyy!" Where's the puppy? There he is. She loves that dog. He still hates her.

With this new-found vocabulary that she is working to perfect every day, comes with it a new desire to do EVERYTHING by herself. Walks are no longer a nice, relaxing, quiet, peaceful event. We fight to get in the stroller or wagon, we fight while in the stroller or wagon, and we fight while she tries to escape said stroller or wagon. Poor Bauer no longer gets his many walks a day, or any exercise cuz baby don't let no one walk faster than her!

And, lastly, we're back working on potty time. I'm taking potty learning slowly, and not forcing her before she's ready. There's lots of Smartie treats, high fives, hugs, and books to read to keep the experience fun and inviting. She still hides in my closet to do her business, so we'll keep at this for as long as it takes. But today, she seemed to get it. And she had a blast figuring it out.

Funny story: yesterday, while on the toilet, she reached her hands out for a hug so I came in and hugged her. She made me rock her back and forth, while still on the potty. While we rocked, hugging, she started pushing out a little poop. Pooping-While-Hugging-Mommy is NOT going to be a regular occurrence.

Here's to a fantastic weekend. May all of you enjoy the beautiful weather, the sunny skies, the green grass, and the littles smiling.
